Camera lense question?

i am a begginer at everything that has to do with photography. i was just wondering how a zoom lens would focus if i wasd using a 35 mm slr camera. for example if i was just using a regular non zoom lens i can focus but if it is a zoom lens can u focus? if so is it the same a a regular lens? just wondering Thanks

Yes, all lenses can be focused.  However, if you are using a lens designed for a digital SLR, it may not autofocus correctly with a 35MM SLR.  But you can still focus it manually, as long as it fits on the camera correctly.
