  1. Unfortunately is sounds like a trip to a repair center...

You're not stupid, people with the expensive DSLR also drop their cameras and damage them as well.

  2. HI Kangeroo.  Don't feel bad / you are no idiot!!   IN fact,  you are very much like the hundreds of people with the same bad luck asking the same question.  "I dropped my camera..  what cam I do?"     When your camera fell,  unfortunately it suffered some kind of damage or else it would be working properly.   There is nothing you can do,  yourself.   You have to get it looked at by someone who knows what they are doing.   Dropping is not covered by warranty,  so there will be a charge for the repairs.  Take it into a camera repair shop and have them give you an evaluation of the damage and an estimation of what it will cost to fix it.  If too much,  you might just want to replace it.    Just some advice:

Never  use your camera without slipping the wrist strap around your wrist.

When not in use,  always keep your camera in a padded case or pouch.

Try to get a camera not so small and easy to slip out of your hand.

And know.... if you drop the camera,  it will never quite be the same.

I know you don't feel any better,  but accidents happen to all of us... just learn what to do the next time.   ; ))
