Camping in UK...?

Hi, I am to spend a week traveling around UK this summer in my car and separate tent. I want to avoid camping sites, just want to basically get somewhere and break my tent. By some lonely forest, or a secluded field...now, hehe, is this actually legal/possible...? How does that work here in Britain/Wales...?

If you're going to do that, you need the landowner's permission

go for it, whats the worst that can happen really,  u get asked to move and have to sleep in the car, the lake district is a must visit if your camping... been a few times and it never fails to impress you.
