I wish to know can I patent a general idea, example - a slogan or text on the shovel. And this shovel can use a protest or just show informat which own rational purpose (text - your novel or poem).

  1. Words may be copyrighted rather than patented, with limitations.  Titles of songs cannot be copyrighted although the song can be.  Company names and logos are protected to prevent abuse but must be registered within a state or the entire country as appropriate (often shown with a circled R).  Designs (using words?) may be protected for limited periods.  A copyright allows you to go to court and claim damages but may not be worth the trouble even if you win.  Showing a circled C with the year may stake your claim for what it is worth.  To obtain valid legal advice you must always consult with a lawyer, especially a patent attorney.
