Question:

Can I become an Australian citizen?

I am a triple citizen, with the United States (born here), Canada (dad from there), and the Netherlands (mom from there). My mother's father was born in Melbourne in the 1940's. His wife was not an Australian citizen, and he was a first-generation Australian. My mother is not an Australian citizen, and my grandfather is the only person that I know of in my family with Australian citizenship. Can I become an Australian citizen?

  1. Nope. For you to register as an Australian Citizen via Descent at least one of your parent/s would have to be Australian Citizens at the time of your birth. And your mother would not be an Australian Citizen via Descent unless she had an application for Australian Citizenship lodged (Australia does not have automatic citizenship for those not born in Australia).

Don't you have enough citizenships as it is?
