Question:

Can I get high school credit

I just moved in w/ my dad and I plan to attend public high school. Last year my mom wrote a letter telling the school board what my curriculum was. Even though I was in 8th grade, I took algebra 1. The problem is she wrote pre-algebra.

What am I going to do when I have my transcripts sent and it looks like I have only completed pre- algebra? Do I let them know she made a mistake and give them a portfolio of completed algebra 1 work so I can get credit. I have an approved test so that I can go to 9th grade, I just want to make sure I can get into geometry and get credit for the coarse I already did.

Thanks.

  1. Try to get it fixed, If you get it fixed, and get your freshmen math class as Geometry, you only need to two years of Math in High School, compared to the regular 3.

Talk to a councilor at your high school, or if possible, your old Middle School to get this fixed.

  2. You should have your records sent from your previous school, which is probably mandatory anyway.  I would think the school would rely on that rather than what your mother wrote.  Either way, you need to go talk to the office to make sure everything is on track.  They can tell you then what you need to do if things are messed up.
