Can I legally make moonshine now?

The Clampits used Granny's "White Lightin' " to power their car, can I do that? Afterall it's not really any different than the corn whiskey that's being forced into our gas now. I just think it would be cheaper for me to make it at home.

  2. well the production of ethanol is moonshine

and the whole world is talking about making it

    so why be left out

  3. Short answer is YES at least for fuel.   Permits are required from the Federal Bureau of Alchohol Tobacco and FireArms, as well as state and local officials.  Although most states accept the Federal permit as an ok.  Each locality is different.   I strongly advise the following book if you are just starting out in alcohol fuels.

'Alcohol Can Be a Gas'  by David Blume.  Great Book!

    1.Go to  www.american-renewable-energies.com

2.At the bottom of the page there are 3 links above the counter.   The middle one is Knowledge Publications.  click it

3.Scroll down about 4 pairs of books for 'Alcohol Can Be a Gas' it's on the right hand side.

I have a permit application in and have been home brewing beer for several years so alcohol for fuel doesn't seem like a big leap to me.

Good luck and if enough people apply for the permit it will be legal for anyone anywhere to make their own alcohol fuel.

  4. There are federal laws against the making of moonshine, as untaxed whiskey, If you will pay the taxes and get a permit you can make you whiskey. The corn mix that they use to make ethanol is not drinkable. In the old day some moonshiner mad short cut making there lighting that made people go blind or killed some.. And it is not good corn whiskey that they are putting in gas as good tax paid whiskey cost more than gas. If fact at $5.00 a gallon for untaxed Lighting in the old days it still cost more that gas at that time..

  5. hydrogenguy is right, you can make your own fuel alcohol legally, however you do need to file the right paperwork with the BATF, and you have to pay road taxes on the fuel you make. as indicated there are several books on the subject, pick a few and read them over carefully. there used to be a limit on how much you could make, i think it was like 15 gallons per week for fuel, but as i recall those restrictions have been lifted, check to be sure though.

  6. sorry its still illegal ull have to buy it :[ not unless no one finds out =p good luck mate

  7. If you don't get caught,it's legal as far as you're concerned.LOL.

  8. lol no, sorry. still illegal.
