  1. No.  You must be an MD (medical doctor) in order to prescribe medicine.  A good example is a Psychologist (PhD) vs a Psychiatrist (MD).  A Psychologist usually does more counseling/therapy or research where as a Psychiatrist deals with more severe mental illness that often requires medication to help control.


  2. Eri got that one right on!  Only an MD, or Nurse Practitioner can prescribe medications.

  3. No.  Even though they do have a doctorate, it's not in medicine.
