I have read so much about people on clomid. Can any woman be prescribed it, or is it only in special circumstances?

  1. hi there,

well you can get it prescribed to you if you've been ttc for a about a year or 6 months if your over 35 you'd have to do  the fertility tests such as blood test, hsg, and maybe an ovary scan and sperm test to see whats going on.

then they would see what treatment best for you, but on the whole clomid is cheap and easy to use and is usually the first port of call when ttc and has good success rates

but you can only have it if you having fertility problems.

  2. You could be really dodgy and buy it online (though I wouldn't suggest it!), but it's really only for women who do not ovulate on their own. If you are ovulating, then you don't need it as it won't increase your chance of conception. You could be prescribed it if you've been TTC unsuccessfully for some time and are proven by blood work done by your GP to show no sign of ovulation. Most areas in the UK say 12 months, some say 18 or even 2 years of TTC.

If you are concerned about when you ovulate, you could try taking soy isoflavones (dubbed 'natures clomid') from CD3-7 I think it is and this may help you ovulate more regularly.
