I've been through 3 vacuums in about 2 years, and I'm getting really sick and tired of throwing good money out the window. Does anyone know of a vacuum that doesn't cost a lot of money but works really well? The most I want to spend is about $200.00. Please, help me out, my house looks like lint balls exploded everywhere, its really gross.

  1. Hoover elites are great, and very inexpensive, I have a house cleaning Business, and that is what I use, You can find good vacs. at garage sales also.

  2. I have a HOOVER-SAVVY and I simply LOVE it!  Like you I had been through 2 vacuums in a year and that was BEFORE we had wall to wall carpeting!   I now have 2 toddlers AND a large breed shedding dog!  Not to mention a messy crumb- leaving husband... That I LOVE dearly!

Anyway, this vacuum is fantastic I've had it nearly 5 yrs and have had little to no trouble with it.... However, I DID purchase the extra 3 yr. extended warranty which I highly recommend no matter what kind of vacuum you choose to buy!  I got my vacuum as a gift it was around $200-$250 so I bought the warranty.... It was under $100!  Which is still WAY under the price of a fancy DYSON!

No matter what vacuum you decide- remember annual maintance is key!  Take your vacuum in 2x a yr. and have it cleaned and checked.. This is where the warranty is especially "handy"... I call the cust. service line and tell them my vac. is not working properly... I take it to the "authorized" repair shop and a week later maybe sooner my vacuum is working like new again... Anything that you use on a regular basis needs maintance.... The only thing NOT covered by my warranty are the filters... Which are EXPENSIVE but, I only replace mine every 2 yrs. or so.. There are NO bags or belts to replace!

Also, if you use baking soda on your carpets you will be replacing your filters MORE often since the  fine particles will clog the filter faster.  So keep ALL this in mind when buying any vacuum... I would definetly see if you can find a HOOVER-SAVVY mine is really nice-

Check out Epinions they have really good reviews... I have a nice detailed description of the HOOVER-SAVVY if you want to read it there...

    Good luck

  3. The Dyson works great. Maybe you can find the older model out there still for your price range.

  4. i bought a bissell healthy home vacuum and it works wonders! you may have to vacuum several times because this vacuum gets every bit of dirt and you can see the difference. this is a great alternative to dyson which is really expensive. the price i paid was about $246 but some places have it cheaper or for sale so look around. hope this helps!

  5. get a vac that takes a paper bag. like a bissell
