Can dish washing liquid kill ants?

I want to get rid of ants on my pourch.

  1. I never heard of that before ...but you should try it and see.

    I would think so because the dish washing liquid is thick and it will probably prevent them from moving.


  2. I'm not going to say that this won't work, but I wouldnt' hold my breath...

    A household product that DOES work for sure is Mule-Team Borax.  You can find it in the laundry detergent aisle.  It is the mixed with sugar.  Sprinkle this on the hills.

    The oft quoted concentration is 50:50 but if you start with that, the ants will not likely be too fond of it.  Start with a much lower concentration of borax – maybe 10% and very gradually increase it to 30-40%.  The objective is to have the ants take as much borax as possible into the nest and they’ll take it if it is sweet.  Put it where you see the ants or on the ant trails. I've used borax successfully in natural ant control experiments.


  3. It might.... use a lot of it and mix with hot water..... find the ant hill, too.
