Can hamster get fleas from cats??

we found a cat and seen it has fleas can our hamster get fleas from her ''if she has them how do i get rid of them???

Flea tend to stay on their host animal. So i wouldn't worry too much. But eggs could fall off the animal and live in your carpet.  Best bet is to use some of that "advantage" for the cat(found at vet clinic) and bomb the house with flea killer.  BUT KEEP BOTH ANIMALS!!!  Hamster's tend to get eaten up more by lice and mites, not fleas.

yes and no.

Just like we can get flea bites from fleas, so can your hamster, however the oils and textures of our hair makes it difficult for a flea to actually live on us, the same thing goes for your hammy. Although the fleas can live in its bedding and feed on it and make her very uncomfortable.

For your cat you need to use either flea drops or give her a flea bath. If you find fleas on your hamster or in its cage you'll need to change its bedding immediantly. Also examine its fur to make sure there arent any on him/her. (examine your hamster and is cage frequently over the next couple weeks if you do find fleas, and change the bedding again if you find any new fleas)

DO NOT USE FLEA POISON ON YOUR RODENTS

it can make them very ill or even kill them, it is not meant for rodents.

yes! Call your vet to learn about the best treatment. I'm not sure regular cat and dog medicines would be alright. Do NOT get a flea collar. They don't work well, and are toxic to all animals.

Fleas on Hamster Response - Yes, your hamster can get fleas from your other pets.  Fleas live on most animals that have fur.  Your local pet store will have special hamster flea powder that you can dust on the bedding (where the fleas live, they do not live on your hamster).  If there is no specific hamster powder available, you can use kitten powder.  It should be fairly easy to rid your hamster of fleas because of the enclosed environment.  Be sure to change the bedding frequently.

yes. you can buy flea meds for your cat, but for immediate results bathe the cat in Joy dish detergent, it will kill the fleas.
