Can i laminate my permit?

i have issues with important documents wrinkling or even...gulp...tearing. :| can i laminate it? is it legal?

if it isn't, what happens if it tears? is it still valid?

if its a plastic card, you cant, because of the strip on the back.

If it's not laminated the I would not do it. Cause that could void your permit. You need to check with the DMV if it's okay.
