Can macs get a virus??

well i just got a mac and heard that macs can't get viruses so i want to download some things? can i get a virus??

Yes, Mac's can get viruses, and they do. Just not as much as PC's. Since there is a larger majority of people who use PC's, then it only makes sense that most viruses will be written for PC's.

It can definitely get a virus. The Mac can't get virus thing is propaganda.  But macs have a lesser chance.

macs don't get sick as easily as pc's.  once in a while they get parasites/computer bugs

Yes, they can.  Is it likely at the moment?  NO.

The reason is that 1.  Most viruses are windows specific (as are most programs.)  This is because there aren't enough macs around for virus writers (or other software writers) to bother writing for mac.

They want maximum return for their efforts.

I wouldn't worry about it.
