I'm moving to sc and want to know if the midlands climate is suitable for growing olive trees.

  1. Olives are grown with success in Arizona, parts of California and Texas but I expect the midlands' humidity and winter frosts would make it difficult for them to do well.

  2. only the coast. even the coast may not get one to survive. most olives can only tollerate a freeze, and only a few are more cold tollerant than that.

  3. From what I understand and have read, olives can only be grown in a certain area in the Mediterranean Sea coast.  They have tried to cultivate the olives in other areas with no success...don't know why but that is what I read.
