Can you be allergic to alcohol?

After I turned 21, I was able to drink as much or as little as I wanted without getting hungover or ever having a problem. However after I began working more and having less opportunity to drink, (a period of maybe 5 months!?) anytime I drink anything, even if it's one drink, I get really sick or nauseous the next day. I was told there was a good chance that I could be allergic....could that be true!?

  1. I would think so. Go to webmd and see if they have the answer.

I cant drink beer without my face and chest turning very red. I can drink other things like whiskey and that doesn't happen.

  2. absolutely, you are looking at another of your kind. i am severely allergic to alcohol, only i get sick and nauseous and my face swells(eye lids especially), and my mouth becomes numb. my advise to you is don't drink. i used to be able to drink and these symptoms just appeared out of nowhere, but whenever i take the chance of trying a drink, the symptoms get worse a little bit. there is a name for this condition, some people call it the 'Asian flush' doctors call it something else. just be careful, if your body is reacting negatively to alcohol, listen to it. supplement the alcohol with something else, i don't know what, but leave the drinks alone.

  3. I do not take
