  1. Yes you can and there is internet....for a substantial price.  I'd suggest you read this article on the UK Telegraph's online newspaper:

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/main.j...

  2. Yes there is in the room you are staying in

  3. The whole idea of a cruise is to get away for it ALL.  I really can't imagine why anyone would NEED to make a phone call while on board.  That said, yes you can make calls if you have to, but understand that ship-to-shore calls are very expensive, so if you're just calling to chat, or tell your little boyfriend how much you miss him, you should probably just wait.

  4. the last cruise I was on my Cell had service the whole time.

and most ships have an Internet Cafe

  5. i wouldn't call someone on a ship, it could be up to $8 a minute

  6. There are phones on board.  Calling the ship will cost between $8 and $12 per minute billed to a credit card.  As long as you know the ship name, name of the person you are calling and cabin number, you just need to call the cruise line and they will tell you how to contact the ship.

As for contact, there are better ways.  Yes there is internet, and cell phones work on some ships now.

  7. Yes, and they have internet access. The fees are high, but for receiving calls I bet they are lower. Altho I have called but not received calls.

  8. Your best bet is to use the internet. Often cruisers get 15 minutes free. If not, it's FAR CHEAPER than calling the ship! Internet costs a few dollars for a few minutes and it's dial-up, but it's doable.

  9. Yes - you can make and recieve phone calls on the ship.  The ships phone number will be on your documents that you get from your booking.  It is very expensive however, to make a phone call.   They have internet cafe's on all the ships.  Usually you can either buy a block of minutes - anywhere from 25 - 120 minutes ranging in price.  Normally I buy 60 minutes for about $50.00.  Internet cafe's are open 24 hours.

Cell phones work in most ports, depending on where you are going - however, sometimes out at sea there is no signal.

  10. But, of course!

All cruiseliner now are equipped with all this facilities and access.., although they are all satellite and of course expensive than in land...it's like you're in a floating hotel...

    Happy cruising!

  11. The last cruise I went on, it cost $16.25 per minute to call from ship to shore and vice versa. I recommend purchasing a calling card and using a pay phone in port.

There is internet as well and at the beginning and towards the end of the cruise is when they run the most specials on internet packages. Internet for 60 minutes cost about $45 (this was a special that was announced the 2nd to the last day of the cruise).

To say the least, communication on board is expensive and I wouldn't recommend communicating with the outside world for your cruise time.

  12. Yes, there are phones in every cabin.  But charges are steep - typically $9 a minute.

People from the mainland can contact you via the ship using international numbers.  See the web site on Princess' web site listed below ".../ready"  (scroll towards the bottom of the web page)

I've had faxes sent to me while onboard.  They deliver them to your cabin.

Internet access is available in the internet lounge 24 hrs.  See second link below.
