Can you improve something eternally?

Question

Do you know anything that can be improved or improved on eternally? It could be anything...but I thought about a mechanical engine. Could you make it more and more efficient forever given an infinite amount of time?

I believe things can be improved eternally because when we get close to perfection, our knowledge grows or our taste changes than back to the drawing board.  If we consider humans, we are constantly improving, although at times not for the better, but our understanding continues to expand and knowledge and intelligence will continue to evolve until eternity.
