Can you open .pptx with PowerPoint2003?

Yes, if you install the compatibility pack (fileformatconverters.exe) from Microsoft.

With the compatibility pack, you can open AND save into .pptx format from Office 2003.

NO, you will need office 2007 to do so or you can download office 2007 compatibility pack so you can open .pptx in powerpoint 2003

A .pptx file is one that was created in Office 2007. Your 2003 version is incompatible and will not open it up. You can either upgrade your version of Microsoft Office to 2007 by buying the upgrade, or you can go to the Microsoft download site and install the Office 2007 compatibility pack so that you'll at least be able to view the file.
