Can you picture this?

A truck with a large tank spraying DDT down a street and kids running behind it getting covered and the picture caption says "perfectly safe"? It happened in the 50-60-'s.

I never ran behind the spray trucks but I was there when the trucks came through town.  It seemed like it did little good to get rid of the mosquitoes, though.  We also had spray guns to use around the house.  Lots of DDT was used in the 50's.

I solved the mosquitoe problem by moving out of the Midwest

Safe from mosquitoes, I guess.  It's incredible how much we've learned since then.  Makes you wonder what we'll learn in the next 50 years about what we're doing today.
