  1. yes but you have to be smart by that I mean when your up don't get greedy and make foolish bets. Keeping betting the way you were.I personally handicap the races the day before and then bet $ 20 across the board. (win, place and show) I aviod the gimmicks (exactas, triples, superfectas, etc.) higher rewards but bigger loses.

  2. yep, if you bet on the horse that looks good to u!!!!

  3. Sometimes! But don't quit your day job.

There are too many variables. Studying the racing forms as to the top jocks (or drivers, as in harness racing), trainers, and past performances will give you an edge, but there are no certainties. In any given race, you are relying on two unpredictable animals; the horse and the jockey. Anyone who tells you that they always make money at the track is either a liar or a fool. You will have good days and bad days, but with the right attitude you will always have fun. If you bet every race on the card, and break out even for the day, you've had a successful day.

  4. Well, you can win, but, you not going to get rich.

Gambling is in the odds and the odds are against you. I go for fun, but, here how I do it.

I study the Racing Form the night before and pick my winners and long shots. If, I go for a big day I have $150 to bet on ten races @ $15 a race. I bet $10 to Win on my long shot of the race and $5 to Place or Show on my Win Horse (This be the most likely to Win), but, has no odds. The $5 bet get back some of the $10 loss. If, I get lucky then one Long Shot come in out of the 10 races. This will usually pay around $300-500 to Win on a $10 bet. This money buys a few people a round of Drinks and the rest goes into my Sock. I continue to bet my other bets as normal to finish the day. If, I Win, I walk out with $300-500 maybe a little less for the Drinks. IF, I lose I usually walk out with some of my $150 start money as the $5 did hedge my bets but in a Negative Slide.

Now where most people make their mistake is Winning a Long Shot and then going outside the predetermined bet per race and they lose all they brought and all they won.

Stay consistent with your bets, have a limit for each race. Winning money goes into a No Bet place so you not get it mixed up with your bet money.

This holds true for Casinos too. If, you Win big, that probably your win for the night and that money gets put away and you hang with what you brought.

  5. Well I think that if I learned everything you need to know to win, that I could do it. I've been around horse about half my life and am pretty talented at it. Even though I'm 13.

    Why did  you ask this?

  6. Not really.  If you want to make a small fortune gambling, start with a large one!

  7. It can be done. You must devote your life to it though, as you would any full time job, and have nerves of steel. You can not just go to the track, buy your racing form that day, and expect to win in the long run. One must have a ton of patience, and a bankroll to withstand a losing streak. Being a good handicapper is only a part of it.

  8. My dad used to say that you could win a race, but not at the races.
