In my opinion they're both equally great, where else can you find the amount of freedom living in either countries. US Americans are shown to be stupid and ignorant, yes thats because the media shows only the stupid ones.

In Latin America, including Central and South America, and including Mexico, poverty is widespread and rampant. Even moreso than that of the US. Crime and corruption is everywhere in the streets, in the schools, in police departments. Politicians are despots and dictators. It's the same for much of Asia; Russia, the Stan's, Thailand, Vietnam, North Korea, etc, etc.

But since I live in beautiful SoCal, give my point to the good ol' US of A.

America is better. Better sports, more cities, more states. But some may like Canada.

if you measure the average HQ (Happiness Quotient) canada wins hands down

it is due to the ignorance of immigrants and US residents (plus other factors, quotas, size etc) that more people immigrate to the US

it is the sub(?)conscious realization of the first statement that make 'americans' envious and consequently despising of canada (eg the questioner)

America, by definition, is all the land in North America and South America.  So, Canada *is in* America.

As far as nationalities go, although everyone living in the Americas can be called Americans, generally this term is used to refer to people from the United States of America.  This is because like all nationalities, the name of the people comes from the name of the country:

Dominion of Canada —> Canadians

United States of America —> Americans

United Mexican States —> Mexicans

Republic of Chile —> Chileans

etc.

So, do you mean Canada and the United States?

Anyway, no place is any better or worse than any other.  All places have their plusses and their minuses.  Since being happy is a subjective and very personal thing, the only "better" place is that place where you are happy.  But, everybody has a different idea about what happiness is.

I would say Canada. Better health care, fairer government and most of the world doesn't hate us but on the other hand America doesn't have Celine Dion. Oh also Canadians aren't ignorant and think liberals are evil. Don't have the K.K.K. don't rely on warfare to gain resources, aren't in so much debt to China that they could totally diminish the USA of its resources in one blow. Don't think China should be blown up because there a bunch of b******s that just want to destroy America. Don't say things like yall. (yes eh is way better than yall) aren't idiots and ban knifes but allow guns. American government and law enforcement didn't do anything about Micheal Regan telling people to find Mark Dice and shoot him because he said the truth that 9/11 was an inside job. I could go on and on and on but i think ill stop right there.
