  1. The only thing they lack is pilot experience.  This is the starting point for many commercial pilots.  Their pay is low and they work long hours(all within FAA limits) so that they can build pilot in command time.  Many try to step up to major airlines once they have built enough time.

  2. CRJ's have most everything their larger counterparts have, with the advantage of having no middle seat in the cabin. Every seat is either window or aisle. Depending on how tall you are you might have to duck a bit on the way down the asile, and the overhead compartments are much smaller, so you will have to check most all your bags.

  3. They are just as safe as any other type of aircraft.  In fact, the small jets have a better safety record than many larger ones.  They are a newer type, which is a good thing.  Some of the pilots may be new, but the captain had to fly for a very long time to get to that position.  It's way safer than driving in your car, and I'm sure you don't think about safety on the road very often.  Have fun.

  4. I flew on one a three or four years ago, from Montreal to Boston.....in a blizzard.

It handled the weather real well, seemed to be a decent enough aircraft, and yes it does have A/C (all commercial passenger planes do).
