Question:

Cannibalism of children throughout history??

Recently heard that in historic times, the "tender" meat of a young child was delicacy to many nobles and children were often slaughtered and roasted for their meat centuries ago (http://www.enworld.org/forum/showthread.php?t=200332),AND)

Someone please tell me

1. In which time periods did this occur

2. What was the event, was it a "special" ceremony in which the child was sacrificed as a "cultural" event, was it because the taste of the child meat was "that good" or was it just because people wanted to survive and they were hungry (which, unfortunately, is occurring even as I write this question in North Korea: http://www.stormfront.org/forum/showthread.php/cannibalism-rampant-north-korea-73229.html),)

Thanks!

  1. in the bible  it talks about the fire god baal they did alot of child burning and stuff like that

    good luck

  2. During times of famine many peoples have resorted to eating their dead.  During the Great Ukrainian famine in the 1930s there were reports of canibalism.

And in the book The 900 Days by Harrison Salisbury there are awful accounts of people being driven to canibalism due to starvation, including a remarkable lucky escape for one young person.

With regards to your first link - it's clearly fiction and does not relate to a real event.

  3. I know some tribes would eat warriors to gain htheir strength but I haven't heard of children being eaten...luckily.
