Cannot connect printer

Hi,I'm trying to install a Kodak ESP 5 aio. I've installed the software CD and uninstalled it a hundred times now and still nothing. When the installation software prompts me to connect the printer to the USB port, it will not recognize that the printer IS connected. I'm lost! Please help.
