I can't seem to find my manual and have never set the timer on it. Does anybody know how to do this? I wanted to take a couple of pics with me in them and need to know how to set the timer and delay. Thanks in advance.

  1. Look for the little clock with only one hand ... start there.  You will either have to move a dial or set the time in the cameras menu.

You can download the manual from Canon.

Look here for a detailed review.

  2. first things first. i will suggest you get a remote for your camera this way the auto focus will work better. the little clock button is your timer. press once to set for 2 seconds and press twice for 10 sends then press shoot and it will flash each second until it shoots.

  3. There's an icon button with - circle with a hand - that you can activate or go to the menu and go to the Drive mode to change it.

Here's a site to show you what it looks like and other features your camera has.

  4. Here is a copy of the manual for the XTi that canon has on their website:

You'll find instructions on how to use the self timer on page 49.

Basically, you press the button that has the stacked rectangles and what sort of looks like an upsidedown Q, then select the upsidedown Q.

  5. You can download and save the Instruction Manual for the XTi (400D)...from Canon.com. However, their site was not working at the time, so I have given you the Aussie link. Just click where it says...Download (near the bottom of the page), and then click on the red 'Download'.

You will find self-timer instructions on page 49.
