  1. if you can get to your ignition wiring?

look for the red wire & follow it until you find the fusable link.

it may be as far back as about half way to the motor.

  2. Evinrudes do have a fuse.

If the motor is a 96 or newer the fuse holder is about 2 inches long, 3/4 inch wide and attached to the wire harness (Not the battery cables). Trace the wire harness where it enters the engine cowling (port side) follow the wires up until you come to the main harness plug ins and look in that vicinity. The fuse holder will be near by. It is a double sided holder with a red cap on it. (the red cap holds the spare fuse so don't look at this one and think it's OK). The main fuse is located at the base of the fuse holder and is a20 Amp blade style.

If the engine is older than a '96 the fuse is mounted in a cylindrical grommet. Trace the wire harness (NOT the battery cables) where it enters the engine cowling (port side) follow the wires up until you come to the main harness plug in (its the big red connector) and look in that vicinity. The fuse holder will be near by approx 5-8" on the engine side of the cable. It is cylindrical rubber holder with the fuse housed in line. The fuse is 20 amps and is very short. Look close!

    Good luck

  3. folow the wire from the ignition switch to the fuse panel or inline fuse, if it is a fusable link it may need to be replaced

also check for power at the switch and verify that there is power. if there is power then it may need a new switch
