Capacitor wiring and charging?

Question

I'm bored. Can I charge my capacitor right now and hook it up in a week without it dieing???

And when I wire for the ground and power can i just strip a small piece of the rubber covering out of each wire about an inch long and put it under the cap bolt??? Or do I HAVE to cut out a piece of the rubber and wiring as making it two different wires??? Thanks guys

a capacitor does hold a charge, its not a battery. what they really do is regulate the electric current in the system. but they all loose the charge very quick if its disconnected from the battery. also, read the manual very closely because if you do something wrong, it will shock you lol.

but i dont really recommend my customers using them because they will reduce the life of your equipment.

for the correct procedure to charge the capacitor, check the owners manual. some require a light bulb, a resistor, and others you just connect it to the battery of the car.

about the wire gauge, this truly depends on the amount of power the amp throws. but usually 4~2 gauge should work fine. its better to have the cable a thicker to allow a better current flow than too small and restrictive.
