Car kicking and knocking. RPMs fluctuate regardless if gas pedal is pressed or not. When gas pedal is pressed the car will physically knock. Does anyone know what might be the problem?

  1. Suspect anyone putting anything in your gas? Possible clogged fuel injector. It could be a lot of things. Bad spark plug wires, bad computer, fuel injection problems. See if you can get a local to look at it.

EDIT: Wooley has a good idea. If a vacuum line is disconnected or has fallen off, you will get this behavior. Check your lines with a flashlight. And just for grins and giggles, check your antifreeze level and oil level that they are where they are supposed to be.

It could be a fuel pump too.

  2. May have a bad vacuum line or lines, fuel injection system is dirty, an injector could be bad-or, it could simply be a plugged inline gas filter. May be two gas filters-one right near the gas tank, another in the engine compartment. Good luck !
