Car VS Bike Helmets?

Can i use a car helmet for bike purposes? and Can i use a bike helmet for car purposes?

I used to sell both. They are very different.

The main problem with car racing helmets is the lack of side vision. In bike racing terms its like wearing blinkers on a horse!

A quess you couold get away with a bike helmet in a car, but for pro racing you will be asked to wear the correct gear. Most rally drivers wear open face ( not advised for bikes) and any open top race will be sponsered so kit price etc will not be an issue.

I assume when you say bike helmet you mean motorcycle helmet...  

I have heard that officials are starting to make people wear car helmets for auto events because if an airbag were to deploy on someone wearing a motorcycle helmet  (Full face helmet) it can break their neck.  (sorry so morbid)  So for auto events you should buy a car helmet.

As far as a car helmet for motorcycles goes...  I would not wear one because the car helmet is not put through as many tests for saftey as the motorcycle helmet.  If you were to crash a car helmet would not protect your head as much as a full face motorcycle helmet.
