Question:

Car accident - what should I do?

I was on a small parking lot. I was trying to move back out. I look around, there is no car. I move slowly without press anything to speed it up. Then I hit another car on the side.

I step out and talk to her. She said that she sounded , but I did not hear anything sort of.

When I check her car, there is a bent on her car on the side. And I also check my car, I don't see any scratch on my bumper.

I'm not sure I make the bent on her car because I hit her car so little, like just touch it. Can we have an accident that only one side have damage?( I wonder if I make that bent)

At the accident, we already exchanged information. She said that she will not report to the insurrance, and she going to check the car.

What should I do, should I pay for the accident. Do I have the right on this.

I think she fail to give the way when I move out the parking.

Please give me all the advice that you think of.

Thank you very much

  1. you should have called the police and made a report expressing your concerns you exchanged information so it looks like you will be paying for damages

  2. Your at fault, she has the right of way in an aisle.

Normally police will not take reports on private property. (which is what a parking lot is).

Let her go through insurance.  Body shops can tell how old damage is & they can advise if the dent she's claiming is related to your accident.  I would also have my insurance take photo's of your own vehicle, protect yourself.

  3. You should have called the police immediately and then notified your insurance company.  Never, never try to settle on your own.  It can cause nothing but trouble.  Do not talk to the other woman anymore.   Notify your insurance company now !
