Car amp protection light?

random bass sub cutout, protection light turned on, restarted car, still on. [[[yokohama amp (800 watts max), precision audio subs, 6 gauge wiring, not a very good head unit, but works overall]]]. please help. lolz

  1. here are the possible reasons

    you need a better ground (try scraping away some of the paint)

    you don't have the correct impedance (ohms) at the amp

    the amp is not powerful enough for the subs

    you need thicker power/ground wires


  2. you have a short! dont keep running it. Good thing you had a good protection circuit, i've had them catch on fire before. Short could be crossed speaker wires or power, but i'm guessing speaker wires are crossed somewhere. double check everything

  3. maybe try some bigger power and earth wire 2 or 4 g cables is better than 6g...make sure your earth is the same thickness as the power cables and see if you have a clean metal surface for the earth wire and secure it tightly.

    also it seems that you are lacking power to the amp, so for this get a volt meter on the battery when its under heavy load and it should be running at no less than 13 volts..if its running low..time for a new battery also
