Car breathalizer question!

ok i have a car interlock device installed in my car, once a month they schedule me appointments 30 min away from home, in order for them to obtain all the information off of it, the appointment date is set on the device, and if you miss your appointment the cars goes in to lockout mode, where you cannot start or use the car whatsoever. so i show up for my appointment yesterday, and what doyou know, there not even open on a saturday, so my device is telling me something about lockout( it sais "slock@2d 13" the 13 i know is counting down by the hour but im not quite sure id the 2d means 2 days and 13 hours, does anyone know about this? its sunday and there not open untill monday so if it locks me out in 13 hours i wont be able to make it to the tech by monday, i will have to get it towed and i do not feel like i should have to pay for my car to get towed to there shop because of something thats was there fault, help would be great, thanks (long post, sorry!)

Drive the car there now and leave it there (legally parked).  That way you will not have to have it towed.

If the device was installed due to a court order because of a DUI conviction I don't think you will get much sympathy anywhere. Be that as it may I am relatively confident that what you described is a 3 day timer and your car will be locked out in 2 days 13 hrs.

well you can easily disable the devise but it will show a flag and i don't think you want that

what you can do is call them and notify them of the sinerio and they will tell you how to disable it (it will show a flag) but because they know about it it should not be held against you

Hi,

You shouldn't have had the device fitted in the first place if it's YOUR car. The system would obviously bypass the ignition terminals, which means that the various colour coded cables wired into the key part of the starter, would also run to the 'interlock device' which acts as a second ignition.

It is like 2 switches being there instead of one. Both need to be active for it to work.

I suggest you rip it out (If it's your own car), or just pull the wires out of it and twist + tape them together somehow.
