alright. so i'm lookin into a first car next year.

i got a few ideas along with the price.

me and my dad morked out a deal that if i score a 30 or higher on the ACT he'd buy me a reasonable car. (under 30,000)

so i been lookin:

(all MSRP's include options to my content)

Nissan Altima Coupe 2.5S - $24,245

Toyota Corolla XRS - $23,704

Ford Fusion SEL FWD - $24,360

Chevy Cobalt Coupe 2LT - $19,740

My grandpa was a mechanic for a while and doesn't want me getting an american car, but it's my car.

I originally wanted a manual trans but after trying to drive my parents cars it'll be hard enough getting used to driving anyway.

I want the loud mufflers, performance parts, and other c**p to throw on and in it. but I don't want over-excessive body kits, huge spoilers, decals etc.

suggestions and comments please

  1. I wouldn't suggest any of those you want. Try Yahoo! Autos I would want a Mitsubishi 2008 Lancer Evo. or a Nissan 350Z (I'm one of those tuner car guys =D ) OR you can get a cheap tuner like a Subaru Mitsubishi, or Mazda and use the rest of the money to buy a loud muffler, rims ( i like and suggest BBS rims),  spoiler, maybe even neon underneath!

  2. Toyota builds great cars that last, dependable, and now easy to find someone to work on them. But if you are a typical, brainless teenager, that's only going to race and waste gas, and wreck your car trying to impress other brainless teeny- boppers, then get the Chevy Cobal, cause when you wreck it and you will, your DADDY won't be so mad at you. You gotta be from the granola state ( fruits, flakes, and nuts) CA..

  3. What ever you buy .. You don't want to stand out .. as in loud mufflers ... or anything that may make the car worth less when you want to sell it .. plus you don't want to stick out when driving pass a cop .. so lite on the tint and no loud systems .. its just a waist of money.

  4. The best car there is the Nissan Altima by far.

The Ford Fusion is really a Mazda 6, which is also great, but the Ford is ugly.

The Corolla XRS is about 10 times slower than the other cars.

  5. Well I am in the field of Imports and in the order of which I would purchase would be 1) Chevrolet cobalt Lt2 2) Nissan Altima Coupe 2.5S 3) Ford fusion SEL FWD 4) Toyota Corolla XRS.

But for what it sounds like your looking for I would go with the Chevrolet Cobalt LT2 .

it has a 2.2L I4 that produces 155 horspower. and you said you want the loud exhaust so you might want to check out Mangaflow Exhausts they provide extra horsepower and an awsome exhaust note while keeping your fuel mpg. also I would suggest some sort of Cold air Intake to increase fuel mpg and horsepower.

  6. The 2009 Corolla is probably the best car for you. The XRS with the 5-speed is quick, super reliable (if they are anything like past Corollas),  and the seats in that car are so comfortable. The Altima Coupe is also a great car if you need even more room. That car is also quite quick.  Your Grandpa is right.

  7. toyotas have the best mileage go to kbb and you can get the specifications on it
