  1. Not where I live, it is not. I have been through the same situation and the insurance got canceled right away, with a $60 cancellation fine.

You should ask for a copy of the contract you signed or ask them to show you some written material that states you have to keep paying.

  2. If you took out a 12 month contract to be paid in  monthly instalments then yes you do, but if you took out a month insurance, then no you don't. If you dont continue paying your 12 month contract each month they will probally say your insurance is void and you will end up in court . and you will have no claim to anything. Carry on paying  my friend ,make life easier. ok MAC

  3. If you haven't got a car then you should be able to take a break from your policy for up to 6 months. Tesco let me do that when I was in a similar situation so I assume it's quite a common practice.

  4. Insurance is a 12 month contract usually so it's probably right. I paid for mine in one lump.

  5. Yes, this is normal, if yours is a 6 or a 12 month policy, paid monthly.

  6. Not really, usually what happens when you write off a car is the insurer would take your outstanding direct debit payments off your settlement as it is deemed you have used the insurance for its purpose so must pay for it.  Hope this helps.
