Car racing?

Question

i was just wondering what are the different car races? i only really know about nascar, indy and that stuff.. few questions.

1. In nascar, they are stock cars right? so that means its all about driving skill rather than car peroformance? so all the cars are relativley the same performance? and in nascar are the cars auto or manual transmission?

2. what is the racing where people bring their own cars and supe them up and race, kinda like in GT4 and forza racing games?

3. where can i go to see races as mentioned in Number 2?

1.  Stock cars only mean that they are based off of cars available to buy at a dealership.  It has a lot more to do with driver performance than other forms of racing, but the teams and performance matters a lot, too.  All cars are NOT equal, and it's not even close! And, they are manual transmissions.

2.  Don't know the games you are speaking of, but usually when you race your own car, it is drag racing (or demolition derby, LOL).  The oval track I grew up near does spectator drags most weeks and they are fun to watch.

3.  Check local tracks- ovals and drag races.
