Question:

Car speakers for 400-500?

I want to upgrade the speakers in my 97 neon, I've got a budget of about 400-500. I already have a newer head unit and I can't afford the loss of trunk space for a sub. I plan on attempting the install myself so that isn't a cost factor either

So all i need is 6 1/2 for the front and 6x9 for the back and maybe an amp if it is necessary.

What brand and model do you recommend?

I realize this is a very broad question with a lot of potential answers but any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

  1. Type R is really nice for rear speaker, good bass, however i dont like the type r fronts as much. i would go with type x if u wanna stay with alpine.

  2. Alpine type R sounds awesome..

  3. get the polk db-212, it is 2 12" subs in a ported box, it sound good and you can get them for $250, then get a $200 amp and your ready to go

  4. I would recommend going with Alpine R-type speakers, they're loud and sound great. I do all of my car audio shopping from a online website called onlinecarstereo.com  they have name brand stuff at wholesale prices, you will save yourself alot of money, i did.
