Car stereo -- second amplifier?

Question

Okay, it's a fullsize van. Pioneer DEH-1900MP headunit, four 6x9's, all powered directly by the headunit. RCA outputs going to a 300w mono amp, powering two 12" subs in parallel.

At louder volumes (42 on the CD player with loudness on low, Bass +4, Mid+2, Treble+5), everything starts to get kinda drowned out. I have bass blockers (47uF capacitors) on the rear speakers.

Would adding a 2-channel amp to drive the four 6x9s help improve the clarity, or would it just mean I need a bigger amp to get my bass back?

amping your 6x9 will greatly increase your clarity. also, by using the amps built in cross overs, you can tune out the lower frequencies (instead of the bass blockers) and in turn get more volume out of them.

yes, i suggest a rockford fosgate amplifier, they are great, and it will add to your music. or go with a california amp, those are cheaply priced, and nothing but great reviews, crutchfield . com sells them for around $110 and you will love it. I have a pioneer 6000ub head unit, 2 12" fosgates, and much more, so I have pretty good knowledge on these things, get the california am if on a budget, but if you have cash to spend, get the fosgate 2 channel.you need a 4 channel to drive 4 speakers, no 2 channell will do it justice. get a 4 channell, and the bass will be there for sure.

you need a bigger amp to drive your subs 300w is not enough you should feed atleast 70% of your speaker wattage to have a decent sound, (300W=2X150W subs) dig it? you might want to use a seperate amp to drive your four 6X9's it will make a lot of difference and less load on you head unit.
