Carls Jr? Hardees? I'm confused...?

Question

Somebody told me about Carls Jr and I had never heard of it before, so I looked it up. I found out it's basically the same thing as Hardee's.. Why are there some called Carls Jr? Cause we still call them Hardee's where I'm from (WV). Ok well.. help me understand this! Thanks! :)

It's a regional thing - just like Best Foods/Helmann's mayonnaise - the same thing by the same company but marketed under two different names (east coast and west coast) to maintain regional brand loyalty.

It appears that the Carl's Jr. company, instead of branching out into other areas, decided to acquire an existing company with a similar product and introduced it's menu gradually.

I used to live on the east coast and can remember when Hardee's was it's own company. From their website, I can see that it has been rebranded in a similar fashion to the Carl's Jr.s that are where I now live.

You should be able to expect similar quality and taste whether visiting a Hardee's in the east or a Carl's in California.

Carls's Jr:

I have only seen Carl's Jr out west... California and Colorado ( I know they are in other states) ..I live in Ohio..we don't have them in this area of the states.

Hardee's:

I have never eaten @ Hardee's but we do have those in Ohio. I would guess they may have the same taste..but they are 2 different restaurants I don't know if they have those out west

Lol.  I lived on the west coast my whole life, and over there it is Carl's Jr.  Then I moved to the east coast to be with my husband, and it is called Hardees.  But they are the EXACT same restaurant!  This happends a lot with foods transfering from the west to the east coast. Like ice cream, and chees, and ect... They are all the same, just different names.
