Carnival glory eastern Caribbean excursions...?

ok so this is my first cruise ever and its my honeymoon. i am so confused with this excursions thing.. i am wondering what is best and inexpensive.. plus i was also wondering if i could just get off the ship and tour ourselves walk around ect.. and what you think we should check out... lol like i said first timer lol if anyone could give me any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated thanx

First of all, congratulations!

When it comes to excursions...

(1) Yes, you can just get off the ship and wander around.  St. Maarten, Nassau and St. Thomas are all perfectly safe places, even to just get in a cab and ask to go to the beach (but do agree the price before you get in).

(2) If you want to book a proper excursion, you can either book direct through the cruise line (which is more convenient and more "quality assured"), or book through an independent, either when you get there or online (it's cheaper but harder to be sure of the quality).

In terms of what excursions to do, I think snorkeling of any kind is awesome.  People seem to like Stingray City (feed the stingrays).  They're all good for shopping, but St. Maarten has the best prices on high-end stuff (but be sure to go all the way downtown, not just the shops by the port), and the Straw Market in Nassau is the best for cheap souvenirs.

I presume Carnival Glory is the name of the cruise ship you are travelling on?  I have been on that ship and it is great.  Don't be confused, you will have a blast.  While at Nassau visit the Atlantis Hotel on Paradise Island.  St Thomas visit Oriental Beach - its half nude and half general public but the beach itself is gorgeous.  Ship excursons are expensive but you can take local buses and travel to the same places for a fraction of the price.  Have fun!!!
