Carry-on question...?

I know the security has let up a little but I'm not sure about one item. My hair straightening iron. I don't see why this would be a prohibited item but I want to be sure it isn't.

I never travel without my straightening iron (domestically and internationally) and never have any problem.

I don't see why they wouldn't let you take a flat iron on board. To be sure however you can call the airport and ask them, or call the airline you are flying with.
