Perhaps not so much of a pipe-dream.  It may happen in the next couple of generations if the pressure to reform is great enough.

BUT... note, that even in countries and societies where caste is not as formal as it is in India -- there still exists predjudice in human nature that creates pseudo-castes.

Even in the U.S. people are classified (basically) as "lower class", "middle class", and "upper class".  It is not a formal system as it is in India and to cross from one "class" to another is very possible, but the "classes" still exist.
