  1. Limit of one per household....

  2. One knight, just as there is only one lord of the house. However, if several members of a family are knighted (or say, the all joined the Knights Templar) then the amount would change - duh.

  3. A "KNIGHT" was usually a nobleman of wealth and property which meant he had his own castle or household to live and maintain.  If not already a man of means a knighthood would often award property to the recipient - from which he would pay taxes to the source of the knighthood.

In other words - ONE !!
