Question:

Cat pees on bed?

My mom has had this cat for over 10 years. She is spayed (since she was a kitten), and has a clean litter box. Recently she started to pee on my mom's bed. My mom is always at home and the cat does this when my mom isn't looking or when she goes to sleep. Any info is appreciated!

  1. I agree with everyone above .. get Ms. Kitty to the vet -- soon!

  2. when cats get older they sometimes have bladder problems,

we had an older cat, and she started peeing on the carpets

I don't remember what we did to get her to stop

but a good idea is to keep your cat in a tile room with her litter box, food and water, and a old blanket or old cat bed or something to sleep on, that you don't mind too much if it gets peed on

you should probally take her to the vet, it could be something that there is treatment for, or it could be that she is just getting old and her body is wearing out

  3. You may want to take her to the vet - could possibly be bladder stones.

  4. If she just recently started doing this then it may be bladder stones or even FUS feline urological syndrome. It may be like one of my (5) cats...He gets mad at me and will go and pee just a small round spot on my best comforter just enough to go through where I have to wash EVERYTHING! He has done this though since he was little when he doesn't get what he wants when he wants it! I would check her out with a vet to be safe though! Good luck!

  5. inappropriate elimination screams that there is something wrong in the kitty's life.  Chances are it is medical, and the kitty should be seen by a vet.

Outside of medical issues, look around the house, what has changed?  is there a new box? new litter? new noises around where the box is? other kitties in the house, other pets?  You could try putting a second litter box down and seeing if that helps, but chances are it is medical, and any secondary efforts you make to get the kitty to pee in the box are going to be wasted until you rule that out.
