Cd drive not detected?

cd drive on my computer wont work. it lights up and will open and close but it will not read disks and the computer cant detect it. what can i do? mabie the driver got deleted?

You need to reset the cd drivers. It you are using XP , click on Start / control panel/ system / hardware tab then device manager. This will open up a new window called device manager. Open up disk driver folder and right click on the cd driver then click on properties. In the general tab there is a Troubleshoot button. Click on it and follow the instructions. If this didn't help, go to the  driver tab and click on update driver. If that doesn't help then you must delete the driver and load the driver from your XP disk.
