  1. yes

  2. no mr. self proclaimed genius...that's never gonna happen...best of 5 set Tennis was always traditionally the first way of playing matches in the men's game..they have already shotened the masters series finals to best of 3 sets...i don't think they will ever take the men's games out of tradition..there is hardly nething traditional left in the game..i mean ..look at the doubles fomat...the masters series format...there is hardly nething traditional left in the game...no budddy...what u say is never gonna happen..!!

  3. I love best of 5 matches because you always have the chance of a 5 set thriller. Think back to the Wimbledon final last year where Nadal and Federer had that amazing 5 set match. It is also tradition and I think they should stick with it. They also have a day off in between matches to recover. Why would you want best of 3? You would just get less tennis?

  4. No, not in the grand slams, the most traditional events in one of the most traditional and slow-to-change sports.  It's one of the reasons why, at least for the men, that makes winning a grand slam so difficult.

  5. It would be okay for all Grand Slams but Wimbledon.  For me, it's all about fairness, and for most tournaments, two out of three is okay.  Playing on fast grass the best of 3 sets doesn't give a player enough time to find their groove.

Hopefully, nothing changes; though, because that's why these tournaments are called Grand Slams.  There should be something to distinguish these tournaments from normal tournaments.

  6. That will be the beginning of the end for men's tennis.

  7. it will be great to remain best of 5 sets!

  8. Why u think like this ?I cant even imagine this.If GS are made 3 sets , then it looses the difference between itself and rest of other tourneys.

  9. It's a chance that could someday happen but hopefully not because that would be stupid. They've already given these complainers best of three at the masters series tournaments. With best of five you get to see what these guys are made of and how far there willing to go and how hard they'll fight to win a match. Besides that it takes the tradition away from the grandslams and they should want the slams to be dinstinguished from regular tournaments. Especially older tournaments like the classy Wimbeldon who wants to watch all of them dressed in white only to play best two out of three, I might as well just go and watch a regular tournament. The grandslams are where legends are made and champions are tested, it just won't be entertaining to me to watch a men's final and only get to see best two sets out of three, that's boring to me at least. They just need to learn how to condition there bodies better and then they'll have nothing to worry about.

  10. While I think it would be a ridiculous change, yes, I think it's coming.  Men are playing fewer and fewer of best of 5 matches and are constantly complaining of fatigue.  Also think how many records have been broken lately for players withdrawing with injuries.

They already changed the Master's to 3 set format, so I think Grad slams will eventually follow suit.

  11. no dat is just stupid

  12. I hope not! This is like make a 10 kilometre marathon only 5 kilometres. These organizers are always cutting everything. We will protest this if they make it shorter.

  13. I'd like to think NOT but we have all been witness over the years to how TV coverage has dictated to sports all kinds of conditions that have gone against the wishes of the players or the best interest of the sport. If the sponsors decide that Tennis is only attractive to TV coverage if it is a three set game(quicker game, quicker results), then we may see the last of the 5 game marathon epic battles.

Another thing that might contribute to this is the absolute madness of the INTERMINABLE tennis season. The top players are just over-stretched and playing too much with no breathers and the more 5 set matches they play, the greater the physical exhaustion and punishment. The players have been asking for a more reasonable tennis season with time to recuperate but no one is seriously listening to them. So in the end, the players themselves might push for only 3 set matches.
