Changed cartridges on my HP

changed cartridges on my HP F2180 Deskjet with HP compatibles now prints, but wont photocopy and cartridge light permamently flashing.It's happened before with another Deskjet F2180, but then it didn't print at all even when I bought genuine HP cartridges. Help!!!
