After high school (2 more years) I plan on joining the Marines. Now i was wondering whether or not you could change your MOS during a term. I plan on becoming a Police Officer as a career and want to do Military Police, but would also like to be an Infantryman. So my question is, is it possible to be an Infantryman for 1 or 2 years and then change my MOS to Military Police Officer for the remaining years? Thanks for any help.

  1. No you can not change your MOS during your first enlistment unless you are injured and can not do your duties.

Can you imagine everyone wanting to change MOS's if they allowed for this..?

And even after your first enlistment it is not a sure thing..there has to be a place for you where you wish to lat move to.

Bust out a war and its amazing how everyone wishes to be infantry, but bring on the peace times and no one wishes to be infantry because its no longer "cool"..Kinda makes you wonder doesnt it.

  2. In the Marines its called a LAT MOV. And you cannot make a LAT MOV during your 1st enlistment.

  3. Every 3 years you can change MOS.

  4. Go and contact your hometown recruiter. He can get answers to your questions.
