Before all the British fans start popping the Cava just yet, its only on the cards.

Read in full here : http://www.motogp.com/en/news/2008/Kawasaki+close+in+on+Melandri+deal+and+third+bike+for+2009

Marco is 99% signed , Hopper is & Team Kwack are trying to gewt a 3rd bike on the grid for 2009.

There is nobody really good enough from the Green Team is WSB or WSS to step up & even though Steve Rapp did a great job at Laguna, he his too old to be signed for new title.

[ Edwards and Caparex have grown in MotoGP to their age's rather then staring new at 34 & 35 ]

This ( I think ) leaves Chaz Davis.

Riding in the now dead AMA, Team Attack, who he rides for in the SuperSport 600 title are not going with the DMG set up for 09, so that might well leave Chaz jobless for next season.

He won the Daytona 200 for Attack, so Kawasaki love him and he is super fast and still young. He knows 90% of the tracks as he has raced 250's.

I really hope to Chaz up there in the Blue Ribbon class again. I really do think he is that good.

Your thoughts on the Kawasaki plans and on Chaz please race fans ?

  1. I like Kawasaki but as soon as they make some progress, they seem to fall back.

Chaz would be welcome in Moto GP and would be an improvement over Westie, no championship material but a good rider none the less.

    Fingers crossed.

  2. I don't know wiggysan, Kawasaki are debating weather to run a third bike for westie.

I don't think Chaz will get the ride, he is not tallented enough.

Heres the link to the third bike for Westie page....

All due respect for him but he has been out for a while and would of forgotten the tracks.

If he does get the ride i doubt he will see the top ten.

Bartholemy's best bet would be to sign Alvaro Bautista

  3. Hi Wiggysan

I've seen a few little snippets of info regarding Kwackers (and Dorna's) desire to run a third bike. But they want a Satelite team to pay for a Factory spec bike. From what I understand the main contender is Jorge Martinez's Aspar team. If that's the case, the sponsors will demand a Spanish rider. The obvious choice would be Alvaro Bautista, but I've heard he wants to stay in 250's with a view to moving up in 2010. Another name that's been touted about is Toni Elias. I know he's been linked with a move to wsbk, but he's always vigorously denied that, and with his result at Brno his motogp stock has gone up 110%. Of course now that the Kawasaki has shown signs of improvement, Alvaro may change his mind, and I think he would be Martinez's first choice.

As much as I agree with what you're saying about Chaz's talent, and I too would love to see him on a third Kwacker, I don't think it will happen. If ama goes into meltdown (which looks a distinct possibility), I have a hunch that Chaz may appear in either bsb or wss next year.

As for Ant, the only thing that would keep Westy in motgp is if he finishes on the podium for the remainder of this years races. So I don't hold out much hope.
