Cheapest but nice caribbean island?

Which Caribbean island apart from Jamaica will you be able to get the best priced hotel?

Dominican. Cheap and much safer than Haiti.

Dominican Republic has some nice and reasonable hotels.  Its actually on the same island as Haiti, but it is less "rustic" and more of a safe touristy place.  Puerto Rico is also cheap, you just need to be careful where you are at.  If hotel prices are your only concern for pricing, I would suggest looking at whatever island looks to be the best to you as far as what you want in a vacation, and look for smaller properties that are not on the beach.  My favorite island down there in Aruba.  The beach hotels cost a whole lot more than the ones where you'd need to walk or even drive.  Also save money by booking through a tour operator that has bundled packages using charter air rather than commercial airlines.  Use that money you save to put towards choosing a better destination.  Also consider finding a place that has a kitchen so you can make meals at the hotel instead of having to eat at restaurants.
